Wonthaggi North East Precinct Structure Plan (PSP)

The Wonthaggi North East Growth area has been identified as a key growth area for Bass Coast Shire, and the peri-urban area of Melbourne. Planning for growth in Bass Coast’s regional centre Wonthaggi ensures that the municipality is ready to take advantage of the opportunities presented in proximity to the metropolitan area, tourism, improved infrastructure and the surrounding Gippsland region.

Council, in collaboration with the Victorian Planning Authority (VPA), has prepared a Precinct Structure Plan (PSP) to guide development in the Wonthaggi North East Growth Area.

The PSP will provide for approximately 5,030 residential lots and up to 12,000 residents along with 61 hectares of industrial and commercial land. The plan provides a strategic framework that will guide the town’s growth from 8,000 to 20,000 residents over the next 30 to 50 years.
