Established in 1966, Bassine Specialty Cheeses is a small cheese making factory built to exacting specifications on a 235ac farm and is located in Glen Forbes, Victoria.
With 180 Holstein Cows Bassine Specialty cheese sources its milk directly from their cows. The companies high temperature short time pasteuriser process has also enabled them to bottle their own milk under the brand name of ‘Bass River Dairies’. The inline separator allows the company to produce Low Fat milk as well as Whole milk and pure Cream.
Bassine’s Cheese shop opened a purpose built cheese making facility attached to the cafe in June 2014 where cheese production has now been extended to three days a week.
Bassine produces a range of soft cheeses, including feta, brie, camembert, washed rind, coulommiers, halloumi, ricotta, quark, fruit cheese and marinated feta.
