Latrobe Regional Hospital

Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH) is Gippsland’s specialist referral and trauma centre located 150km east of Melbourne and is one of the region’s largest employers with more than 1900 staff and is a purpose-built teaching hospital caring for a population of more than 260,000 people.

LRH offer medical services such as elective surgery, emergency care, aged care, obstetrics, mental health , pharmacy, rehabilitation and medical and radiation oncology. LRH has four operating theatres and specialises in general surgery, orthopaedic, opthalmology, gynaecology and obstetrics as well as ear, nose and throat surgery and urology.

A hybrid cardiac catheterisation laboratory run in partnership with Alfred Health will significantly boost heart health services.

LRH the main provider of mental health services across Gippsland and have community mental health teams in the Latrobe Valley, Sale, Bairnsdale, Yarram, Orbost, Korumburra, Warragul and Wonthaggi as well as an inpatient unit at the hospital.

South Gippsland Hospital

South Gippsland Hospital (SGH) is a public small rural health service, which combines an acute hospital with an integrated community health centre.

Together with the doctors of Foster Medical Centre, SGH serves the community of Foster, Corner Inlet, and surrounding areas including Wilsons Promontory.

Maryvale Private Hospital

Maryvale Private Hospital, located in Morwell is a 46 bed acute care medical and surgical hospital established in 1991 and owned by Latrobe Health Services.

Maryvale Private provides a comprehensive range of services to the privately and self-insured members of the community.. The facility includes two operating theatres in the OR Suite and a minor procedure room hoever doesnt have an Emergency Department.

Central Gippsland Health Service

Central Gippsland Health (CGH) is the major provider of health and aged care services in the Wellington Shire. CGH is an integrated service providing a comprehensive range of services.

Central Gippsland Health Services provides services to the Heyfield Hospital, Maffra District Hospital, Sale Hospital along with a number of Care Homes, Community Health Services.

Omeo District Health

Omeo District Health has grown from a district hospital, incorporated in November 1891, to a modern facility, fully renovated and officially opened in December 2005.

Omeo District Health provides a large range of community and Home Based Services such as Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Counselling, Youth Work, Health Promotion, Dietetics and Speech Pathology, Adult Planned Activity Group (PAG), District Nursing, Maternal & Child Health, Diabetic Counselling and Community Dental Services. Service delivery is enhanced where necessary, through partnership arrangements that provide a reliable provision of all services.

Omeo District Health includes a modern medical practice providing General Practice services.

Orbost Regional health

Orbost Regional Health’s hospital provides a range of services to the community including: medical/ surgical services, palliative and end of life care, theatre, midwifery, dialysis, residential respite and residential transitional care.

The Urgent Care Department has highly skilled nursing staff and an on call doctor available for urgent care/ medical care, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year.

Nursing staff triage the patient on presentation and make an assessment on the severity of their condition and urgency of treatment. The nurse will undertake a comprehensive assessment and make a decision if the on call doctor requires to be called or there is not a need to be seen by a doctor and have treatment attended by a nurse.

Bairnsdale Regional Health Service

Bairnsdale Regional Health Service (BRHS) provides a comprehensive array of health care services to the East Gippsland community.

West Gippsland Healthcare Group

West Gippsland Healthcare Group provides acute medical and surgical, obstetric, emergency, community and aged care services, primarily in the Shire of Baw Baw, approximately 100 kms east of Melbourne.

West Gippsland Healthcare Group operates from a number of sites. They are West Gippsland Hospital, Community Health Centres in Warragul, Trafalgar and Rawson, Cooinda Lodge and Andrews House aged care residences, and Warragul Linen Service.

West Gippsland healthcare group have health service delivery responsibilities across a mixture of rural, urban residential and agricultural areas located within the Shire of Baw Baw, and draws clientele from the peripheral east and west of the shire.

Gippsland Southern Health Service

Gippsland Southern Health Service (GSHS) is the major public healthcare provider in the South Gippsland Shire. The health service has a number of sites across the Shire including the Korumburra Hospital, Leongatha Hospital, Alchera House and Hillside Lodge in Korumburra and Koorooman House in Leongatha.

GSHS provides a comprehensive range of Specialist General, Acute, Aged and Residential, Allied Health and Community Services to the residents of the Shire of South Gippsland and is one of the largest employers in the area with approximately 450 staff across two campuses in Leongatha and Korumburra.

Yarram & District Health Service

The Yarram and District Health Service (YDHS) is located 220 kilometres south east of Melbourne on the South Gippsland Highway in rural Victoria.

The township of Yarram, which is the principal service centre of the area.
YDHS offers acute care services including a 24 hour urgent care facility the aged care residential services include a high care nursing home facility and low care hostel accommodation.

Bass Coast Regional Health

Bass Coast Health (BCH) is the major public healthcare provider within the Bass Coast Shire in South Gippsland. It is an integrated health service providing a range of acute, sub-acute, ancillary medical, aged and ambulatory care services.

BCH is fully accredited by the Australian Council on Health Care Standards (ACHS) and is equipped to offer a broad range of specialist medical, surgical and obstetric services including orthopaedics, ophthalmology, gynaecology, paediatrics, urology and rehabilitation.

Latrobe Regional Health Service

Latrobe Community Health Service (LCHS) is one of Australia’s fastest growing health services providing support for healthier individuals, families and communities.

LCHS services include community-based health promotion programs, daily living and rehabilitation assistance, health checks and healthcare plans, medical care and nursing.

Bairnsdale Aquatic and Recreation Centre

Bairnsdale Aquatic and Recreation Centre’s newly upgraded recreation centre offers great facilities including a warm water pool, interactive children’s water play area, an expanded aquatic area, fully-equipped and supervised Health Club and upgraded all-accessible change facilities, and expanded reception and café areas.

Tarra Bulga National Park

The Tarra-Bulga National Park is a national park located in the south Gippsland. The 3,760-acre national park is home to one of the last remnants of the indigenous eucalypt forests which once covered the region.

The Tarra Valley Rainforest Walk is a short and easy walk taking in Cyathea Falls, and the Fern Gully Nature Walk, passes over Corrigan’s Suspension Bridge, which stretches through the rainforest canopy.

The park is a popular tourist attraction with a visitor centre, picnic areas with tables, fireplaces shelters and toilets.

Wilsons Promontry National Park

Wilsons Promontry National Park located on the southernmost tip of mainland Australia covers 50,000Ha of coastal scenery, pristine wilderness and an abundance of native wildlife.

George Bass Coastal Walk

George Bass Coastal Walk is a cliff-top trail that stretches from the outskirts of San Remo. The walk is around seven kilometres long and takes an average of two hours to walk one way.

The walk offers spectacular views of the coastline and follows the route of the explorer George Bass’ epic voyage of discovery along the southern edge of the Anderson Peninsula.

Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit

The Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit is home to the world’s leading motorsport series including the MotoGP and the Superbike World Championship, as well as various Australian series such as the Supercars Championship.

The Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit Visitor Centre offers a range of activities suited for all ages including Go Karts used on a replica of the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, display of the history of Phillip Island racing, Circuit tours, simulators and cafe.

Latrobe City Sports and Entertainment Stadium

Latrobe City Sports and Entertainment Stadium has become the centre of excellence for soccer in Gippsland, The precinct includes a number of grass pitches including and its main pitch “latrobe City Stadium’ which has capacity for 1200 attendees and had been host to major events such as the Hyundai A-League regional and preseason fixutres and W-League regional fixtures.

Latrobe City Sports and Entertainment Stadium recently underwent upgrades which included installation of a FIFA accredited synthetic pitch, Six metre high ball catching net along Crinigan Road, 100 Lux LED lighting, Removable goals for full size and small sided soccer, 230 metres of perimeter fencing along Crinigan Road and within the reserve and Power upgrade for new and future lighting.

Traralgon Sports Stadium

The Traralgon Sports Stadium is currently being redeveloped and expanded for multi-purpose use, allowing the centre to host large-scale events such as regional, national and international championships.

Upgardes to the existing stadium include four court expansion, new show court, 3000 soectator seats and a new multipurpose training and administration space.

Newman park

Located in Traralgons CBD Newman park is a large all abilities and all ages playground with miniature steam train that runs 4th Sunday of the month (weather permitting), electric barbeques, picnic tables, toilets and ample parking and a sound sheel which hosts a number of community events including Carol by Candlelight.

Gippsland Regional Aquatic Centre
